OOTD: Laaaid Back

Jun 30, 2010

It was blazing hot that day! I did not want to wear anything tight so I wore this loose-fitting dress. Eventhough it was 3/4 sleeved, I didn't feel super hot.  I was real low maintenance that day, it was way too hot for makeup. I only had concealer and I felt like my face was melting lol so I just tied my hair up in a messy bun and called it a day. And you can always wear a nice pair of sunglasses, instant coolness.

dress, sunglasses & purse (my sister's): H&M

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Review

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Review

Jun 29, 2010

Thanks to Sarah Lund at 42West, I got to go to a press screening of Eclipse last night. I'm not really into the whole Twilight thing but it was still pretty exciting to be able to see the movie before it made its debut in theaters. During the movie I was taking note like mad so I can post this review so I really hope you enjoy it and find it fun to read. So here is my completely unbiased and honest review of Eclipse..

So Bella (Kristen Stewart) finds herself  in danger once again and this time both the vampires and wolves have to work together to protect her which makes it awkward because she's caught in a love triangle with Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob (Taylor Lautner). Really, what do these guys see in Bella? The girl is as exciting as a bowl of oatmeal. Those two can't resist her drab ways. Edward is dying to marry Bella (I guess at 109, the bachelor life gets old) and Jacob was just coming off as a potential sex offender with his way too intense come-ons. Anyway dialogue-wise, it was drab and a little too moody. Some of the jokes were clever but most were hit and misses. At least there were some jokes though, otherwise it would've been pretty boring.  I found myself laughing at unintentionally funny things like the fact that Bella's mom didn't find it weird that Edward was always indoors and at the Cullens family posing and preening when they were supposed to facing evil vampires.
The performances were passable. Stewart and Pattinson have great chemistry on-screen and eventhough Bella and Edward decided not consumate their relationship; the would-be sex scene was still nice. Stewart and Lautner on the other hand, were horrible. They looked clumsy and uncomfortable. I don't think it was intentional because they were setting it up as something romantic. Too bad it wasn't. Dakota Fanning needs some eye drops in her life and I didn't find her intimidating at all.

The plot was easy to follow but it dragged on at times. There was a really cool action scene, it was really intense and fun to watch. If there was more of that action then I would have definitely enjoyed the movie a lot more.

Overall Rating: 2.5/4

And here are some pictures of me at the screening. I wanted to add a little excitement to my Monday so I added a little glitz to my outfit..

And a pic of my press screening pass..

Biggie Conspiracy Theory

Jun 17, 2010

I really like conspiracy theories, even if they are completely ridiculous. They fascinate me and it amazes me the work that people put in to come up with them. So I decided to come up with one about Biggie, the rapper. I wrote this one random day last year when I was particularly bored, hope you like it and have a laugh. And try not to take it too seriously. Click on the link below to read it:

My Trip to The Zoo w/ Jeremy

Jun 15, 2010

Nothing fashion or beauty related in this post, just wanted to share a few of the pictures of Jeremy's first trip to the zoo. If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I was tweeting a lot about it on Saturday and twitpicing away about our trip. We both had lots of fun, he loved the squirrel monkeys the best, since they were the ones that were most active lol.

I love giraffes, they're my favorite animals.
Flamingos.

This little fellow was so cute & friendly, he's a Golden-Lion Tamarin. They're endangered but thanks to the zoo, they're reproducing and have a good chance of being returned to the wild.

Cute little Antelope babies.

Squirrel monkeys, Jeremy's favorite!

Penguins.

The evil goat. He was only nice to me when i had pellets in my hand. I tried petting him to show Jeremy that goats are harmless and he headbutted my hand.

Jeremy & me at the end of the day.

Hope you enjoyed!

Styling: 4 Outfits Under $100!!!!

Jun 14, 2010

Finally! I was supposed to do this post a looong time ago and sadly I've been slacking on it. I had to change most of the stuff in the outfits  since it wasn't available in stores. I wanted the items featured to be readily available in case you liked anything you saw. These outfits reflect my personal style which is minimal most of the time. It just goes to show you that with a few basics, you can make great versatile outfits without breaking the bank. I hope you enjoy!

I also want to add a new feature where you can request celeb styles you like and I can find affordable outfits that reflect that style. What do you think about that?

On to the outfits! (click on images to enlarge)

1. Less is More
I just love how the cut of this jacket plays up the slim lines of the outfit. It has slightly padded shoulders for a little bit of an edge. And don't you just love the shoe? They have an awesome snakeskin pattern on the heel and along the sole.

lavender linen jacket: Forever21, $27.80
white tank: H&M, $4.90
"jeggings": $19.90
grey suede pumps w/ snakeskin detail: $34.90
TOTAL: $87.50

2. Can't Go Wrong w/ Classics
This is a nice casual, everyday outfit. Everything goes well together because it's so crisp and clean. I paired 3 classics: white button down, denim shorts and converse sneakers. The shorts were boyfriend style and they're real comfy!

white button down: Forever21, $19.80
distressed boyfriend denim shorts: H&M $22.90
low top sneakers: Converse $35.00
TOTAL: $77.70

3. Urban Cowgirl
Another casual outfit. I like how the combination of the florals and the toughness of the boots go well together.

cardigan: Forever21, $15.80
navy floral strapless dress: Forever21, $19.80
boots: Journeys, $40.00
TOTAL: $75.60

4. Make A Statement
The name sucks but I couldn't think of anything better. The shoes really pop and make the outfit a lot more interesting.

lace detailed tank: Forever21, $6.80
grey pants: H&M, $24.90
pink pumps: Mixx $23.00
TOTAL: $54.70
