Pantene Ultimate 10 BB Creme Review

Jun 22, 2013

Unless you live under a rock, you must have heard about BB cremes and what they can do for your skin. BB Cremes are taking the beauty industry by storm and now there's BB cremes for hair as well! They are similar in concept to the skin ones, they repair your hair and help maintain it at the same time. I have seen hair BB cremes at Sephora and now they have managed to trickle down to the drugstores. I was given the chance to review one by Pantene.

Product Description: Inspired by skincare's BB phenomenon, this leave-in formula gives hair a healthy look while preparing it for enhanced styling control and a silky, smooth finish.

Pantene’s first BB Crème for hair, Ultimate 10 BB Crème is a revolutionary multi-tasker to be used on wet or dry hair—for a flawless, healthy-looking finish. Dare to get 10 solutions in 1 easy step.• Repair for Rough Hair• Strength Against Damage• Silky Softness• Brilliant Shine• Smoothing• Moisture• Frizz Control • Heat Protection• Manageability • Tamed Flyaways

I used the product two ways: on my hair when it was wet for styling preparation and on dry hair to smooth my hair style. When I do my own hair, I start off with a roller set. So I applied some to my hair while it was wet then proceeded to to put it in rollers. It did feel a little sticky while I was doing my roller set so I was scared that my hair was going to be all greasy. After removing the rollers, I flat ironed my roots and I did notice that my hair was a little easier to flat iron and that my roots weren't as curly. I feel that the BB Creme did nothing to prevent frizz because my hair did get frizzy. Then again, it was very hot and humid out that day. But when I applied some to my dry hair to retouch it, it did calm down a large amount of the frizz so I would definitely recommend this for taming frizz.

I like using the product better on my hair when it's dry because I feel like that it works better on smoothing out my hairstyle. When I curled my hair, the style held very well and I didn't have to use so much hairspray. It kept my hair looking great on the several occasions that I used it.

I also took it with me to the salon for my usual blowout. I used it on my wet hair only this time. Again, after my hair was removed from the rollers, I did see that it was smoother  and that my hair was easier to blow dry. It cut down the time of my blowout by about 25% which is pretty good.

I didn't feel that this product did any repair on damage but my hair is healthy overall so I can't really judge it on that but it did do a large amount of the things that it claims to do. I would recommend this product especially if you style your hair often and you want something to make the styling process easier and less time-consuming. And it does do a great job in smoothing down your hair and taming the flyaways. It retails for $5.29 so you can't beat the price!

Pros: affordable, works on ethnic hair, cuts back on styling time, helps make hair more manageable, adds shine, tames frizz and flyaways
Cons: doesn't prevent frizz, sticky texture
Overall Rating: 3.5/5

OOTD: Chicly Cropped

Jun 18, 2013

I think the part of my body that I least like to show off is my midriff. Maybe it's because I have a long torso. Cropped tops are everywhere now and I just love how they look with high waist lines. Perfect for the girl that wants to show just a little sliver of midriff. Like me! And it's a more chic way to wear the cropped trend.

And a high waistline comes in handy when you gorge on buffalo wings and need to hide the bloating for your blog photos. This is a random scenario of course...

DIY: Bleached Tie-Dye Jeans & OOTD

DIY: Bleached Tie-Dye Jeans & OOTD

style inspiration: Isabel Marant bleached jeans
my DIY version
This DIY is so easy that it's not even funny. And it is a great way to recycle a pair of jeans that you don't wear anymore. It's good to use a dark pair so that there will be more of a contrast with the design but you can use a lighter pair if you want a more subtle pattern. I used a cheap pair of F21 jeans that I had.

What You'll Need:
-Dark pair of jeans
-Bleach (the concentrated formula is better because it will bleach faster)
-Bucket
-Rubber gloves
-Rubber bands (thick ones)

Directions:
1. Wrap the rubber bands around sections of your jeans. The more rubber bands you tie around, the smaller the white sections on your jeans will be. There is no right way to do it! I wanted the top of my jeans to have a design as well so I tied rubber bands there as well.

2. Fill a bucket with 3 parts cold water and 1 part bleach, enough to fully cover the jeans. Be sure to do this a well-ventilated room.
3. Soak the jeans in cold water first and then submerge them in the bucket. Leave them for about 2-3 hours, depending on how light you want the bleached part to be. After 2 hours, They still weren't as light as I wanted them to be so I dipped the bottom for a while longer.

4. Untie the rubber bands and wash them in the washing machine in cold water without any detergent. I had to wash them a couple of times to get the bleach smell out.

I love, love, love how they came out! I kept getting compliments when I wore them out and they looked awesome with my leather jacket.

Review: The Skin Regime" by Dana Ramos (Part 1)

Jun 11, 2013

If there's one thing that I would love to have is perfect skin. My birth controlled left me with acne that was way out of control up to the point that I didn't know what else to do. It took me a while to realize that it was my birth control that was causing all these breakouts. My breakouts are finally down to a minimum and I just have some slight scarring that is fading now.

author Dana Ramos
I read "The Skin Regime" by Dana Ramos and in her book she offers great advice about taking care of your skin and "reinventing" it. She has a photo of herself that is no retouched and she is wearing no face makeup AT ALL. I think she looks absolutely amazing!

In her book she offers a "Beauty Boot Camp" kind of regimen for beautiful skin. I like that she suggests products that aren't outrageously expensive. Most can be found at major drugstores. I am currently doing the boot camp and I will be following up this review with photos of my face after I have completed it.

This review is one of two parts. This first part is on the book itself and the second part I will go more in depth about how effective the skin regime was for me.

For more information on "The Skin Regime", you can visit the website HERE. There are some pretty amazing photos of before and after pictures as well.

Can't wait to show you guys my results!

Jeremy and I went to our little cousin's (my 2nd cousin, his 3rd) birthday party. I wanted us to kind of match without it being too obvious. I love matching with Jeremy, and I have to take advantage while he still enjoys looking like his mom.

And this is Jeremy's first OOTD post! He doesn't really understand the blogging concept but he sure loves taking selfies with my phone.

My Oily Skin Saviors

oil-free, yay! wearing: MAC lipstick "Pink Pigeon"

Summer is pretty much here and one thing that I hate about the Summertime is how my face acts up. I have combination/oily skin and it can be such a pain. I experience oily skin pretty much in the t-zone area. My hormonal acne is finally under control (thank you birth control) and it isn't a major issue for me anymore. But as soon as it starts getting hot, my t-zone becomes an oil slick.

Luckily, I have these useful little tools that keep my face shine-free for most of the day. That and my daily makeup routine has helped keep A LOT of the oiliness under control.  I use my Korres Pomegranate Mattifying Treatment under my daily moisurizer. This was gifted to me by my BFF and I am so happy she gave me this! This stuff is amazing! And I love the cool sensation, especially on warmer days.

For touch-ups, I use my Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens. They are available at Sephora. At $7.00, The price is pretty decent and these are the best blotting papers I have used. They absorb a lot of oil and I only need one sheet. For extra humid days, I'll touch up twice a day.

I do not wear foundation everyday. I wouldn't be able to stand it! My makeup routine for everyday is pretty simple. I'll just add a little blush or lipstick to liven it up a little.
