Devil Halloween Makeup

Oct 26, 2010

So I have decided to be a devil for Halloween mostly because I find the devil itself very intriguing the way it seduces and persuades people to go against their will and do its bidding. It's not something that I'd do myself but I still find the stories and mythology behind the devil character quite fascinating.

So here is the makeup look I am planning on doing. I tried it out today and I liked the results. I shaded my face with red eyeshadow and did a smokey eye with a red lip. I used a stencil for the eye area and filled in it using glitter cream eyeshadows. I used some loose gold glitter in some areas to add more of a pop.

I only did half my face because I was too lazy to do the whole thing. I'm using my mom's camera temporarily because the charger for mine is not working. I have ordered a new one and should be here in a few days. the glitter didn't show up well because my mom's camera is not that great. With or without flash, it looked crappy lol.

Products Used
FACE
Revlon Colorstay Foundation in Rich Ginger
eyeshadows from my Coastal Scents 88 Palette
red-for contouring, hairline and for filling in my eyebrows. Also for my eye crease in my smokey look.
EYES
Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers glitter palette in 11281
NYX Glitter Mania loose glitter in Gold
CoverGirl Lash Blast Macara in Very Black
LIPS
NYX lip pencil in Plush Red
NYC lipstick in Retro Red

Hope you enjoy and like always I am open to any suggestions that will make this look even better :).

My Review
Ever since I saw the Latina Bella Cosmetics display in Duane Reade, I was very curious about it. It's not too often that you see a company targeted towards Latinas. Actually, I've never seen one. So I was pretty intrigued. The first thing I wanted to try was the foundation. Aside from Revlon Colorstay, I have always had issues with drugstore foundations. it is usually near impossible to find a shade that matches my skintone.

The first thing I liked was how all the shades looked like they had olive or warm tones. Second was how just by looking at the swatches, I saw right away which shade I was most likely to be. You don't know how many times I've stood in the drugstore, contemplating which foundation better matches my skintone.

The first time I used this foundation was to go out to a party. It stayed pretty much intact throughout the night. I really liked it. Now I've worn it several times both with and without face primer, and I have become a big fan of this foundation. It doesn't feel heavy, has buildable coverage and blends smoothly and easily (I have applied with both a foundation brush and makeup sponge and have had no problems with both methods). I just don't like the semi runny formula but it's not a huge issue. It also comes with a tube opening so that you don't waste product. My favorite part about the packaging because it makes application so much easier.

Swatches

Overall
Pros: very affordable, great packaging, buildable coverage, long-lasting, easy to blend and to apply, shade range, targeted towards WOC (mainly Latinas)
Cons: formula a little runny
Rating: 4.5/5

I would definitely recommend this product, especially to WOC. You don't have to be Latina, I find that women of mixed race or of different nationalities can also use this product. Latina Bella Cosmetics can be found at Duane Reade or you can go to www.mylatinabella.com to check out the foundation and shades that they offer.

FOTD: Teal Please

Oct 11, 2010

This is a look I wore out on Saturday night. I was experimenting with different color combinations. let me know what you think!  I used a soft gold all over my lid and added orange to my crease. Then I underlined my lower lashline with teal.

I also dyed my hair. It looks black in the photos but it's really a coffee color, a dark reddish brown. In the sun you can see the red tones in it better. I'll take some pics and post them up soon.

What I used:
FACE
Latina Bella Foundation in N10 (review coming soon!)
Revlon Colorstay Mineral Powder in Suntan Matte
MAC Select MoistureCover in NW35
Wet n Wild bronzer in Goddess
NYX blush in Peach
EYES
gold eyeshadow all over lid and inner corner from my CS 88 warm palette
orange eyeshadow in crease from my CS 88 palette
teal eyeshadow on lower lashline-Physician's Formula eye enhancing shadow strips for blue eyes
CoverGirl Lash Blast in Very Black
LIPS
mark. lip balm in Sheer Rose
NYX round lipstick in Honey
E.L.F lipgloss in Honeydew

CSN Stores

I have been contacted by CSN stores to do a review on one of their products. CSN stores has over 200 different websites feauturing  wide variety of merchandise from bar stools to rugs.

I get to choose the product that I'm reviewing. There's so much things to choose from so I'm pretty undecided. I am hopefully going to be able to move out soon so I'm thinking of choosing something that I can use for my new place. Maybe a cute lamp or some cookware perhaps?

NOTDs Galore + Review for Cutex Manicure Correcting Pen

NOTDs Galore + Review for Cutex Manicure Correcting Pen

Oct 4, 2010

Here are some nail colors that I've worn in the past couple of weeks..

NOTD #1- N.Y.C Long-Wearing Nail Enamel in Purple Pizazz Frost (133)

I love this color so much, it's a wonderful bluish purple. The only thing i didn't like was that it shows up very sheer so you need about three coats for the color to look intense. Sorry about the crappy paint job, they got smudged almost as soon as I was finished painting them. Lovely, I know.

NOTD #2- N.Y.C New York Minute Quick Dry Nail Polish in Flat Iron Green (214B1)

I think this color is such a nice change from all the burgundys and and other dark colors you see in the fall. It's a very pretty, dark green jelly. It's also supposedly a dupe for NARS' nail polish in "Zulu".

NOTD #3- 10 Professional Nail Lacquer in 458 Moonlight

This is a brand that i tried for the first time. i saw the display in CVS and they had a lot of nice colors to choose from so I purchased this one. I've been wanting too see how putty-colored nails look on me. So far, I'm liking thise formula, I've had it for two days so far, and I also went clubbing and no chips. So far, so good.

REVIEW FOR CUTEX MANICURE CORRECTING PEN

As I have mentioned in my recent haul post, I purchased some items from Lot-Less. One of them was a manicure correcting pen by Cutex. i decided to try it out the same day i had on the color "Moonlight" on me. I really liked this pen. It made cleaning the edges a breeze and it didn't mess with the nail color on the nails. Sometimes when I use Q-tips, sometimes I take some color off the nail by mistake but with this pen it didn't happen. I only paid about 1.99 USD for this pen so it was a very good buy. Worth every cent and I would recommend this item.

OOTD: Pink About It!

Oct 3, 2010

top-Joyce Leslie, skirt & clutch- H&M, pumps-Mixx shoes
hoop earrings and bow ring-F21

I was going to do a post on either a haul or an NOTD but I went out last night and I wanted to share what I wearing. And I haven't had a lot of fashion-related posts recently.

So last night I went out with my sister and her friend. We went to a place called Leather Lounge. I had a good time, I danced practically all night lol. Usually, I tend not to be approached when I go out to clubs because i always looks super talls with my heels. There were a lot of tall guys there, good for me!

I wore a loose crop top which I paired with a basic black stretchy skirt. I accessorized with pink suede pumps, silver hoop earrings and a little two-finger bow ring that I have. I was excited to try out wearing hoops, because I usually wear studs. I know, I'm a total dweeb for getting excited about wearing hoop earrings. I feel like this outfit was sexy yet tasteful. Even though it was a crop top, it was very loose and the skirt didn't have a low waist. You only got to see glimpses of my midriff which I think is sexy in a mysterious way. I'm a big fan of "leaving something to the imagination" rule.

I made the stupid choice of wearing a blazer, I was burning! I went to put it in coat check but there was a huge crowd there so I just hauled it around all night lol.

Makeup wise, I just did grey on my eye paired with lilac-y lips. I just kind of coordinated it with my outfit.
