Lollipop Boutique Grand Opening

May 23, 2014

I was invited to attend the grand opening of the Lollipop Boutique located in the Washington Heights-Inwood neighborhood of Manhattan. I was excited to attend because it was in my neighborhood! I love supporting local businesses.

The clothing in the store is trendy and very colorful and fun. Owner Yahaira Nunez (who was a former contestant of the reality show "Nuestra Belleza Latina) wants the clothes to be a reflection of the Latino Culture and for it to have the "spice" that Latinas are known for. I love that the clothes are affordable, the most expensive item is $150.00.

Owner of the Lollipop Boutique, Yahaira Nunez doesn't want the Lollipop Boutique to be just a store, but a fun party for girls. She wants shopping to be a fun and unforgettable experience which is reflected upon the upbeat and bright decor of the store. Aside from selling clothes and accessories, she plans on holding cocktail hours as well as "Sip and Shop" events for VIP clients.

I will definitely be making a lot of visits to the Lollipop Boutique. It being only ten minutes away from me will definitely have an impact on my wallet.

Lollipop Boutique is located on 487D Broadway by 204 St in Manhattan, New York.

OCC Cosmetic Colour Pencil in "Hoochie", OCC Matte Lip Tars in "
Am I down with OCC? Yeah you know me! I'm already a huge fan of the original OCC lip tars so when I found out about these new matte shades, I beelined to the nearest Sephora (which happens to be five minutes away from my job). These shades are part of the Plastic Passion Collection. I also purchased a pencil in the shade "Hoochie" (which is my favorite shade in the original lip tar collection). The pencils were advertised as being able to be used on the face and body but "Hoochie" was not reccomended for the immediate eye area. Shucks, because it really would've looked great as an eyeliner. Especially for us brown-eyed gals. Oh well, on to the swatches!

"Hoochie" Colour Pencil, Matte lip tars in "Kimber" and "Rollergirl"

I am in love with these shades! They apply with a little bit of a sheen and dry matte. You do need to apply a bit more product with these formulas though. Not something that's a big issue however. These also wear nicely on the lips, they are not super drying which is usually and issue with matte shades. I am very pleased with the formula. I still recommend, prepping and priming your lips to get the best results :). These lip tars are priced at $18 USD.
Hoochie Colour pencil (top) and lip tar (bottom)

The pencil and lip tar are pretty similar in color, except that the pencil is matte. I am looking forward to using it as a base to make up color combinations. I liked the formula, very creamy and easy to apply. The pencils are priced at $16 USD, fairly decent price. Similar to MAC's price.

All OCC products can be purchased at Sephora stores or online or on OCC's website.

Happy Mother's Day! Hope you are all enjoying this gorgeous day with your mothers and loved ones. It's gorgeous weather today, after all the crazy bipolar weather we've been having in NYC. I wore this out to dinner with my mother and family. I loooove polka dots, they must be my favorite print. Something about them that's just so fun about them.

Review: NiA Helio Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner

NiA Helio Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner

I was contacted by DS Laboratories to review a number of products. In this blog post, I will be focusing on the NiA Helio Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner. I really liked the packaging of the products, very sleek and high-end looking.

From The Company:
Take advantage of Nia, the new state of the technology, and raise your image to a higher level, a more beguiling level, one never before attainable. Enjoy greater confidence and success, knowing you always look your most perfect — younger, more alive, more glamorous. Get the date. Win the job. Live life to the fullest.
Try the new reference among hair products, unsurpassed Nia Helio Hydrating Shampoo and Nia Helio Hydrating Conditioner, the very next time you wash and condition.

The first thing that stood out to me was the bright red color of the shampoo. I was very skeptical of it and I even did a test on a small patch of hair before using it on my whole head. But it didn't end up affecting my hair color. The smell of the shampoo was very pleasant but I did not like that it left my hair feeling a little stiff. A bit ironic because the shampoo is supposed to be hydrating.

I was a little more satisfied with the conditioner. It reversed the effects of the shampoo and left my hair feeling smooth. It also made my hair much easier to untangle. My hair is usually very knotty after a wash since my natural hair tecture is very curly. But the comb passed through fairly easily.

I didn't have any issues with styling my hair and I liked the results. There wasn't any dramatic changes but I did like how silky my hair felt and how sleek it looked. I would definitely continue using the Helio Hydrating Conditioner. I'm still a little iffy about the shampoo.

OOTD: Yellow Pop

This blazer is one of my favorite items in my wardrobe. I love the boyfriend cut and the cheery yellow color. It instantly adds a pop to any outfit. I felt like the yellow went very well with my "blue suede shoes" (I was on my Elvis ish). I love this blazer so much, that I also have it in green. H&M is so affordable that you can be a crazy hoarder like me.
