The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Review

Jun 29, 2010

Thanks to Sarah Lund at 42West, I got to go to a press screening of Eclipse last night. I'm not really into the whole Twilight thing but it was still pretty exciting to be able to see the movie before it made its debut in theaters. During the movie I was taking note like mad so I can post this review so I really hope you enjoy it and find it fun to read. So here is my completely unbiased and honest review of Eclipse..

So Bella (Kristen Stewart) finds herself  in danger once again and this time both the vampires and wolves have to work together to protect her which makes it awkward because she's caught in a love triangle with Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob (Taylor Lautner). Really, what do these guys see in Bella? The girl is as exciting as a bowl of oatmeal. Those two can't resist her drab ways. Edward is dying to marry Bella (I guess at 109, the bachelor life gets old) and Jacob was just coming off as a potential sex offender with his way too intense come-ons. Anyway dialogue-wise, it was drab and a little too moody. Some of the jokes were clever but most were hit and misses. At least there were some jokes though, otherwise it would've been pretty boring.  I found myself laughing at unintentionally funny things like the fact that Bella's mom didn't find it weird that Edward was always indoors and at the Cullens family posing and preening when they were supposed to facing evil vampires.
The performances were passable. Stewart and Pattinson have great chemistry on-screen and eventhough Bella and Edward decided not consumate their relationship; the would-be sex scene was still nice. Stewart and Lautner on the other hand, were horrible. They looked clumsy and uncomfortable. I don't think it was intentional because they were setting it up as something romantic. Too bad it wasn't. Dakota Fanning needs some eye drops in her life and I didn't find her intimidating at all.

The plot was easy to follow but it dragged on at times. There was a really cool action scene, it was really intense and fun to watch. If there was more of that action then I would have definitely enjoyed the movie a lot more.

Overall Rating: 2.5/4

And here are some pictures of me at the screening. I wanted to add a little excitement to my Monday so I added a little glitz to my outfit..
