FOTD: Slip Into Pink

FOTD: Slip Into Pink

Feb 28, 2010

My friend from High School was throwing a birthday party for her daughter's first birthday. I didn't get to bring my son, his dad had him for the weekend and the weather wasn't so great. He was just getting over his cold also. I stuck to my usual neutral color scheme with my outfit but I decided to do pink on my eye which I've never done before on myself.  I always wanted to add some color to my outfit. I smoked it out wit grey to keep the look semi-soft. I really liked it and I will definitely wear pink on my eyes more often.

Spring Inspired Outfits

Feb 26, 2010

Once again, there's a snowstorm here in NYC. Out of boredom and because I am dying for Spring to come, I made some outfits on Polyvore. Since Spring means delicate and pretty to me, I added floral print to both outfits..

M.A.C Party! (reposted from 02.13.2010)

M.A.C Party! (reposted from 02.13.2010)

So last week I was at the MAC counter in Macy's buying concealer and I was invited to go to an event where they were launching the new spring line. The main colors were pink, purple, coral and bronze and they are eant to be worn in a monochromatic way. So I went yesterday with 3 of my friends and we all got makeovers. I got my make-up done by this fabulous guy. He used the bronze/neutral palette on me and it looked hot. It was a lot of fun, there was good music and the artists were super nice.

This is the look he did:

The only thing was I felt the brow powder was too light so I sort of look like I have no eyebrows haha. I ended up buying the lipglass he used. It's called "Feeling Dreamy" and it's limited edition so you know I had to get it!

Feeling Dreamy Swatch:
I love it, I used it again in the night when I went out with my glam squad. I paired with a simple charcoal/black smokey eye.
And a quick look at my outfit, I literally threw this on. I didn't feel like making a lot of effort lol. The tank was solid in the fron and lacy in the back...

Outfit:
Lace-back Tank Top-Necessary Clothing in SoHo
Leggings-Forever21 (http://www.forever21.com/)
Leopard-print heels- Zigi Shoes in Greenwich Village

Products Used:
Revlon Colorstay Foundation in Toasted
Revlon Colorstay Mineral Finishing Powder in Suntan Matte
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Charcoal (entire lid up to crease)
NYX Eyeshadow in Black (outer V)
Wet n Wild Creme Eyeline in Black (upper and lower lashline)
CoverGirl Lash Blast Volumizing Mascara in Black
M.A.C Lipglass in Feeling Dreamy

I also saw the Lady GaGa Lipstick that's out for Viva Glam. Super Hot!!! It's a soft, matte pink that looks great on almost everybody. My friend got it up and she loves it, I tried it on and didn't like how it looked on me. I resembled a corpse lol.

Eye Diagram

Eye Diagram

I got this wonderful diagram  and guide from PiinkCupcakez (make sure to check out her site, it's fab!). It's a great way for beginners to know the names of the different areas of the eyes and what colors work for each area. Always remember, to achieve a beautiful look, the secret is to blend. Can't emphasize that more.

Inner lid, Middle lid, and Outer lid:

eyeshadows here usually(not always) go from light to dark

starting at the inner part of lid and ending at the outer part of lid

Crease:

the indent between your lid and your brow bone

darker shadows applied here add depth to the eye

Outer V:

the outer V forms a V shape starting on the outer part of the lid

from your top lashes into your crease

Browbone:

the bone right above your crease

this is where i begin to lightly blend my crease color up to my highlight

you can also apply a lighter shade than the color used in your crease to help you with blending

Highlight:

a part of the brow bone.. this section is right under your eyebrow

here is where you place your lightest color

either a shade close to your skin tone or the lightest that goes with your color scheme

Inner corner:

a lighter shadow should be placed here(either your highlight color or lighter)

this will make your eyes pop and look brighter

*for close set eyes, applying a light shadow here will make your eyes appear further apart

Waterline:

there are 2 waterlines- 1 near your top lashes and 1 near your lower lashes

applying eyeliner to your upper waterline is known as "tightlining"

applying eyeliner to the lower waterline can either define or widen the eye

white liner will make your eyes appear larger, while a darker liner adds definition

bright colored liner just adds a pop of color for a fun look

Lower Lashline:

below your bottom lashes

any colors can be added here..

*for a smokey eye, darker colors should be applied here and blended for that smoked out look

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Feb 14, 2010

I'm not a big fan of the holiday but I would still like to wish everyone a Happy V-Day and may you enjoy it with your lovers and/or families and friends. Here are two V-Day inspired looks, both with pink:

I did this eye look on my best friend, Kathy. The pink and brown looks very pretty and soft.

Products Used:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance (TFSI)
NYX Pearl Mania Loose Pigments in Pearl (review coming soon!)
LA Colors Eye Palette in EP23 Serenade
Wet n Wild Creme Liner in Black
Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara in Brown

I did this one on myself, I think the eyeliner with the bold lips looks very sexy and sultry. Also, I really liked how it went with my new, dark, hair. Remember ladies, when doing a bold lip, it's best to keep the rest of your makeup minimal, I just added a little bronzer to liven up my face a bit.

Produts Used:
Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Oily/Combination skin in Rich Ginger (review coming soon!)
MAC Select MoistureCover Concealer in NW35
Revlon Colorstay Mineral Finishing Powder in Suntan Matte (review coming soon!)
